Aer Lingus Cargo - LED lighting upgrade

Waveguide designed, supplied and installed four different types of lights in Aer Lingus Cargo complete with lighting controls. Each light has different benefits, our team of specialist advised the client on the best lights for the particular area of installation

The client approached Waveguide to increase their lighting levels dramatically from current poor lighting levels of 50 lux to 300 lux average in the main warehouse areas. The objective was to carry these works out during normal working hours, a complex installation due to the heavy traffic of cargo and warehouse operatives, which required daily planning and communication with onsite Aer Lingus staff.

Waveguide installed its high-bay Allstar 209 replacing current 400w metal halides on a 1v1 basis and also installed ambient lighting control sensors to maximize energy savings.

Throughout the medium bay areas, Waveguide replaced current 2x58w T8 fluorescents with Starfox 202 LED luminaires, also installing lighting controls throughout.

Benefits Included:

They can achieve up to 80% energy savings compared to traditional fittings. The lights are low maintenance reducing costs and disruption of routine maintenance LED.  These lights have a lifespan of 109K hours minimum to L70 and are tested in accordance with LM79, LM 80 and TM 21. They have a distribution, uniform distribution with a typical SHR of over 1:5:1.  The reliability drive currents are kept below 0.32A ensuring junction temperatures are typically below 60 degrees for longevity and reliability PSU.
