Connolly Hospital - Street Lighting

The Challenge: 

To create a LED lighting solution which would improve lighting levels and reduce the on-going energy costs associated with the pre-existing street lighting scene at Connolly Hospital. The main issue was to increase lighting levels along bus stop routes and also secure lighting for pedestrians. The aim was to bring the current design up to meet CIBSE standards S3 class for road lighting. 

Our Solution: 

Waveguide Lighting’s solution was to replace all  - 250w SON fittings (280w inclusive of all losses) on a 1 v 1 basis with a Streetlite Retro 3-Rod LED light fitting – which runs at 66w inclusive of all losses.  
The lights were fitted onto current 10m poles with some poles spaced up to 30m apart. The quality of the high CRI 5700 kelvin LED lights provides safety and security by eradicating pockets of darkness by using our wide beam angle luminaires.  

Lux levels, CRI and light uniformity across this project were improved. At the same time, the proposed fixtures offered a useful LED lifetime of 109,000 hours meaning that the fixtures will operate maintenance-free for their entire lifetime (almost 25 years for a 12/7/365 operation). This lifetime is backed up by a 10-year warranty meaning that Waveguide takes full responsibility for the lights, and the client enjoys all the benefits of a maintenance-free solution.
